Amaravati: Minister for information technology, panchayat raj and rural development Nara Lokesh said competitions would be held to select best swachh villages and awards would also be given for the winners.

Competitions to be held to select best Swachh villages

The Minister congratulated the villages which won awards in best villages categories from Union government recently under Swachh Bharat programme. Panchayat raj commissioner Ramanjaneyulu showed the awards to the minister and said that Andhra Pradesh won 19 awards in various categories.

A review meeting held in Secretariat on Wednesday on works to be taken up in Vijayawada Parliamentary Constituency. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas and city MLAs also participated in the meeting.

Lokesh has inquired about the problems in Assembly constituencies of Vijayawada Parliament constituency such as implementation of housing scheme for poor, roads widening, pensions, development of government hospitals and others.
He also reviewed the progress of various development works and implementation of welfare schemes.

“District level and other officials should be captious in this rainy season to avoid problems to public and ensure drainages clean by removing silt regularly, which is important to prevent endemic deceases in rainy season”, he said.Principal secretary Karikal Valevan, Krishna Collector Lakshmikantham and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation commissioner participated.
