Darsi: Women Empowerment and Child Welfare Minister Paritala Suneetha announced that the government would introduce kindergarten in English medium at the municipal schools and Anganwadi Centres in urban areas.

She paid a surprise visit to an Anganwadi Centre in Darsi on Thursday and said that the Balamritam, a nutritional supplement scheme, will be launched on August 1 for the benefit of around 16 lakh children.

Suneetha, said, “The government will introduce Balamritam scheme from August 1 for the 16 lakh children in the age group of seven months to three years registered at the Anganwadi Centres.

The Anna Amritahastam scheme was launched by the Chief Minister on June 21 to give a nutritious lunch for 25 days in every month to the 7.55 lakh pregnant and lactating women through 257 ICDS projects. This helps the newborns healthy and strong.

With the coordination of Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana, they would introduce kindergarten at the municipal schools and Anganwadi Centres, she said. “We are also printing the exercise books for the children and kindergarten will be introduced anytime soon. We are trying to provide own buildings to the Anganwadi Centres in the state.

About 7,000 of them have their own buildings and about 30,000 more should be provided in cooperation with the local bodies. We are going to apply ICDS seal on each and every egg being supplied to the Anganwadi Centres so that there will be no misuse of them in future. If we find any misuse of the items supplied to the Anganwadi Centres, stringent action would be taken.”
