Gudur (Nellore): Rural police nabbed two persons, who were involved in stealing plasma televisions, and seized Rs 3 lakh worth 5 television sets from them. The accused were identified as Damaramadugu Koteswar Rao (27) and Gunipadu Rajasekhar (24).

Rural Circle Inspector P Akkeswar Rao said on Thursday here that Koteswar Rao and Rajasekhar from Vedayapalem in Nellore city were working in Muthumariamma’s marriage function hall in Gudur rural mandal.

They borrowed Rs 16,000 from the management and failed to pay back the money. With this the management had removed them from the services. Koteswar Rao and Rajasekar, who had addicted to bad habits, have planned to steal plasma televisions in the function hall for additional money.

They had stolen the televisions on June 1 and 5 which were placed in the dining hall and tried to sell them in Chennai. They were caught by police at Chillakur bypass road on Thursday morning while they were trying to transport them to Chennai. They were carrying the plasma televisions in a gunny bag to sell them in Chennai market. On receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and took the accused into custody. Sub-Inspector M Bobby and other police personnel were present.
