Students from the Telugu states have excelled in the the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS and BDS courses, the results of which were announced on Friday by the CBSE. Interestingly, as many as 28 social welfare and 8 tribal welfare students are likely to get into medicine and 10 social and two tribal welfare students into BDS.

Hyderabad/ Amaravati: Students from the Telugu states have excelled in the the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS and BDS courses, the results of which were announced on Friday by the CBSE. Interestingly, as many as 28 social welfare and 8 tribal welfare students are likely to get into medicine and 10 social and two tribal welfare students into BDS.

Disclosing this on Friday, the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) Secretary Dr R S Praveen Kumar said the Operation Blue Crystal (OPBC) programme providing free long-term coaching for the meritorious poor children has been transforming their lives.

Prabhas, who secured 534 marks in the NEET entrance, said, “Joining the OPBC was a turning point in my life and I wanted to become a doctor and pay back to society by being an empathetic cardiologist.”

As many as 49,223 students have appeared for the exam from Telangana. L Amav Trinath, who secured 12th rank, said that he was planning to join the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, as he also got 35th rank in the AIIMS entrance exam.

Son of an Ophthalmologist Dr LVK Raju and physician Dr L Sunandini, Trinath said he would pursue research after medicine.

Hemanth, who got 30th rank, said that he wants to take up research in genetics after completing the medical education.

The NEET ranker who also got 113th rank in the AIIMS is planning to join the AIIMS at Bhopal.Daughter of a Warangal farmer A Akhila got 32nd rank in the exam.

Third daughter of A Somi Reddy and Sridevi, Akhila said she was yet to decide on which medical college to join. T Neeraj Pavan Reddy, who got 70th rank, said that he has been planning to join the Army Medical College. Son of Dr T Suryaprakash Reddy, Pavan said that he wants to become a cardiologist.

Girl candidates have an upper hand this time in the examination. Altogether 200 ranks made it to the list from Andhra Pradesh.

The state ranks would be released by the NTRUHS. Manvitha N from Kadapa secured the all-India 14th rank and (first in AP), while Sai Swetha P from Visakhapatnam secured 36th rank, Lasya P from Nellore got 51st rank and Manoj Pavan Reddy from Anantapuram secured 59th rank.
