Visakhapatnam: Dr B Nalini, director in-charge, GITAM School of Gandhian Studies, GITAM University, has been awarded the Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship 2017 sponsored by the United States – India Educational Foundation (USIEF).

The Fulbright programme is the flagship international educational exchange programme sponsored by the US government.
Established in 1946 under a legislation introduced by the late Senator J William Fulbright, it currently operates in over 155 countries worldwide.

The Fulbright-Nehru Master's fellowships are for highly motivated individuals, who demonstrate the leadership qualities, have completed the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree, have at least three years professional work experience, and are committed to return and contribute to their communities. The fellowships are for one to two years.

Dr Nalini has been in the teaching and research arena since 2004, and was honoured with GITAM best teacher and best researcher awards. An ICSSR Doctoral Fellow, her research interests have been in the interdisciplinary social sciences with an emphasis on public systems, having had a brief stint with the AP State Administrative Service. Her current research is on displacement for which she has been awarded the Fulbright Fellowship.
