Good response to Olympic Day Run
The Olympic Day Run, which was oraganised at the RK Beach Road here on Friday, evoked good response. Sportspersons of various associations, school and college students and officials participated in the Run organised by the Olympic Association Visakhapatnam (OAV). The Run was started from Kalimatha temple and culminated at YMCA.

President of the Andhra Pradesh Volleyball Association and MLA West PVGR Naidu (Ganababu), who flagged off the Run, said the Run is being held on June 23 every year to instill interest about sports and sportsman spirit among the young people.
Many schoolchildren from various private and government schools of the city, who took part in the Run, added the required energy and colour to the event as their enthusiasm levels were visibly high.
Olympian MV Manikyalu, president of Olympic Association Visakhapatnam TSR Prasad, MD of CMR Group of Business MV Ramana, Director of Sports of GVMC Y Srinivasa Rao, District Sports Development Officer June Gallyot who participated in the Run expressed that Olympic Day is being observed annually by National Olympic Committees across the globe in observance of laying of foundation of the International Olympic Committee at the Sorbonne in Paris, on June 23, 1894.
While the presence of a noted sports personalities was not visible, the budding sportspersons present for the Run displayed high spirits throughout the event.
