Goods train derails in Prakasam district

A goods train carrying petrol tankers derailed at Singarayakonda Railway station in the early hours of Saturday.

The incident occurred in Prakasam district when the train was being sent to loop line to make way for super fast express passenger train.

Passersby noticed all the 12 bogies being derailed and informed the staff at the railway station who alerted the railway higher officials. Fortunately, the goods train was travelling at low speed when the derailment took place else the mishap would have been severe.
