Kurnool: Government General Hospital superintendent Dr J Veeraswamy served show cause notices to RMO Dr Y Vasudha and CSRMO Y Srinivasulu here on Thursday asking them explanation as to why they failed to provide power for 12 hours on Wednesday night. Speaking to the media, Veeraswamy said eight deaths were reported on Wednesday night.

However, the deaths are not related due to power outage, he added. The hospital official failed to give an answer as to why more deaths were reported on Wednesday night compared to regular days. Meanwhile, the Health department officials have ordered for a probe into the deaths in Kurnool Government Hospital.

Even, the state intelligence wing also asked to file a comprehensive report on the issue. Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas and Principal Secretary Poonam Malakondaiah spoke to Veeraswamy over phone and asked him as to what he was doing when there was no power in the hospital for 12 hours. Kurnool MLA and Hospital Development Committee member SV Mohan Reddy also expressed shock at the negligent behaviour of the hospital authorities.

He visited hospital on Friday and interacted with the patients and assured them of providing all medical care. Speaking to The Hans India Poonam Malakondaiah said that she was aware of power outage in Kurnool hospital. Director of Medical Education (DME) has sought a report from hospital authorities, she added.
