Vijayawada: The people and employees should work in tandem for safeguarding the agriculture sector, said MLC Boddu Nageswara Rao.

Participating in the classes conducted by the Insurance Employees’ Trade Unions of Krishna and Guntur districts at Indian Medical Association (IMA) Hall on Sunday, he said that the employees should win the hearts of the people through hard work and educate the people regarding the anti-people policies pursued by the Central and State governments.

All India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA) vice-president K Venugopal spoke on the topic ‘Employees unity and development’. He said that the Modi government had promised two crore jobs before the general elections in 2014, but could give only two lakh jobs while losing 25 lakh jobs in the process.

Furthermore, he said that the Union government had assured minimum support price for farmers, but the farmers were burning their crops for not getting minimum support price.

Nageshwara Rao accused the BJP led NDA government of exploiting the caste and religious sentiments and hoodwinking the people to come back to power in 2019 elections.

AIIEA secretary V Ramesh said that by privatisation more jobs were lost instead of creating them. Only the government could give employment on a large scale and not the private and MNCs, he said. A large number of insurance employees participated in the classes.
