Visakhapatnam: Five suspected anthrax tribal patients from Araku Valley mandal were admitted to KGH on Saturday. Local doctors from Araku referred the tribals, who have been suffering for the past five days, to KGH. Though the skin disease is seems to be anthrax, the doctors collected the samples and sent for testing labs in Gwalior for confirmation.

Superintendent of KGH Dr Arjuna said that the tribals were admitted to the dermatology ward and their condition is stable. They have not been confirmed as anthrax patients. At present treatment is being given suspecting anthrax, Arjuna said.
With the information,

the district administration alerted the medical and health authorities to organise special camps at all vulnerable areas in the agency. All community health centres and primary health centres have been alerted to move into the tribal hamlets to provide medical aid to the tribals.
