Amaravati: The State government mandated various departments to implement power saving measures. According to the instructions, departments like municipal administration, panchayat raj, roads and buildings, transport, agriculture, RWS, rural development, transport, school education, higher education and others have to follow energy saving systems.

Every department was directed to make energy audit and submit report every three months. The aim of the government aim is to save 15,100 million units annually by introducing energy saving practices. A five-year plan has been finalised for the same.

Under this power saving plan, all the government departments should utilise five star-rated electric and electronic devices. All the government offices will be converted as star rated quality products using buildings.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to utilise three star and five star-rated energy efficient appliances like LED lights, bulbs, fans, air conditioners, solar water heaters, solar roof top system and motor pump sets.

The government has set up a special programme for this purpose to save energy consumption and expenditure of various departments. As per expectations 35 per cent of energy consumption can be saved by following the power saving practices. Chief secretary Dinesh Kumar instructed the officials to make energy audit in next three months by appointing one nodal officer for this purpose.
