Prices of most of the vegetables, which are used daily like tomato, green chilli, coriander leaves, brinjal and carrot were on the rise when compared to the previous month.

On Monday, the price of tomato per kg was Rs 29, green chilli Rs 60, brinjal Rs 24, coriander leaves Rs 32-40 per bundle, carrot Rs 63, french beans Rs 64 and broad beans Rs 62 per kg.

Vijayawada Rythu bazaar Estate Officer M Srinivasa Sastry told The Hans India that the prices of essential vegetables and leaf veggies have gone up in the recent past few weeks. He said when compared to the prices of previous month the prices of some vegetables now increased by 50 to 100 percent and even more.

He informed that the prices of these vegetables would remain high for few more months. Most of the buyers in city visit Swarajya Maidan Rythu bazaar for purchase of veggies. Rythu bazaars located in Bhavanipuram, Patamata and Ajit Singh Nagar also are very useful and attracts a large number of customers.

Most of the vegetables come from other places like Tirupati, Chittoor, Anantapur, Rajamahendravaram, Hyderabad and Bangalore. He further said that every day the prices of the vegetables will change at Rythu bazaar, he added.
With the GST burden looming large from July 1, the common man is worried about the prices of veggies too.
