Kakinada: East Godavari SP Vishal Gunni opted for WhatsApp and Facebook to get feedback from public on various issues like accidents, grievances which need urgent police attention.
Speaking to media persons at his office on Thursday, the SP said that in view of widespread utilisation of mobile phones in East Godavari, he has taken this decision to ensure quick and timely action on public grievances. He shared his WhatsApp number 9494933233 and welcomed the public to send vital information.
Vishal Gunni also said that noticing the activeness of public on social media, he decided to make himself available to public through social media to receive their messages.
Explaining the modus operandi, the SP said that on immediate receipt of information or complaint, the nearest police station house officer (SHO) will be alerted to take necessary steps.“If I am in a meeting or in some important assignment, two DSPs assigned will take over the duties and monitor the representations of public,” the SP clarified.
