Rajamahendravaram: Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham asserted that there would be no change in the proposed padayatra schedule.

He on Thursday, met former MP GV Harsha Kumar broke his two-day indefinite fast, as the government arrested four accused in social boycott of Dalits in Garagaparru village of West Godavari district. The former MP sat on an indefinite fast with a demand to arrest the persons responsible for social boycott.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that there was no change in his proposed padayatra to Amaravati, which was aimed to take the problems of Kapu community to the notice of state government, besides insisting on reservations for Kapus.

“Why the government is insisting on permission for padayatra? Former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy and many other leaders took up padayatra without obtaining permission,” he pointed out.

Accusing the government of supressing Kapu community, Mudragada wanted to know whether Kapus were citizens of the state. “They are using police to supress our protest programmes,” he said and added that they have been asking Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to fullfill his poll promise.
