He laid foundation stone for the government junior college building to be constructed at a cost Rs 1.85 crore at Manubolu on Thursday. Speaking to the media, Somireddy said that parents committees have to monitor activities in colleges and schools for their effective functioning.

The government had allocated Rs 20,000 crore for education sector despite financial crisis, he said. Somireddy said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had taken measures to provide basic amenities in all schools and colleges. Students of junior college have been facing difficulties due to lack of proper accommodation for running classes, the Minister stated.

He also explained that the building has been sanctioned ten years ago. But, it was materialised now, he added.
He also said that they are going to construct the building in around 3 acres of land with an estimated cost of Rs.1.85 crore using latest technology.

He also informed that Rs 8.51 crore works were completed in Manubolu mandal under Neeru-Chettu programme. He also explained that they would take measures to ensure justice to the tribal population, who lost their lands due to power grid. Former MLA P Rathnam, RDO Venkateswarlu and others were present.
