Tirupati: The nagging Ramapuram municipal dumping yard issue came to an end with officials bowing to the demand of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLA demanding for shifting it to some other place.

After a meeting of Industries Minister N Amarnath Reddy, Chittoor MP N Siva Prasad, Chandragiri YSRCP MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, District Collector PS Pradyumna and Tirupati Municipal Corporation (TMC) Commissioner C Hari Kiran, it was agreed to shift the dumping yard from Ramapuram in three months for which Bhaskar Reddy and the corporation agreed.

Briefing media on the outcome of the meeting, Amarnath Reddy said that District Collector will find out a suitable place for using it as municipal dumping yard and also to locate the proposed waste based energy and see that the present dumping yard is shifted in three months.

Sources said Chittoor MP N Siva Prasad played a crucial role in arranging the meeting between the Minister, officials and the YSRCP MLA to find a solution to the protracted dumping yard issue. Meanwhile, Bhaskar Reddy in a release attributed the success to the relentless fight of the women of the villages around the dumping yard.

He said despite the government resorted to force and arrested him and 36 others, the women continued the struggle ferociously forcing the corporation atlast agree for shifting the dumping yard. Reddy thanked the villagers particularly the women stopping the garbage dumping causing health problem, facing bravely the police which ultimately saw the corporation bow to the demand for shifting the dumping yard.

The YSRCP MLA also refuted the allegations levelled by TDP leaders against him on the issue. He wanted the authorities to take steps for providing medical facilities to the villagers and assured not to disturb the garbage disposal in the yard till three months. In the same breath, he warned of mass movement if the dumping yard is not shifted within the agreed three months.
