Talking to this correspondent here on Thursday, who exposed the land scam in Mudapaka village, which has been included by the VUDA for land pooling, said there was no meaning in setting up SIT which has been limited to the inquiry into the tampering of government land records.
There are thousands of victims in the city whose lands have been grabbed by the powerful mafia having support of the political leaders, the MLA said and suspected that the mafia might influence the government to limit the powers of the SIT.
The MLA also said he would demand the government extend the scope of SIT very soon. The SIT, meanwhile, on second day assembled at the Collectorate and received petitions from the people.
