Amarnath stated that former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao had promoted social forestry in a big way. The Minister showered praises on the Chief Minister for following the footsteps of N T Rama Rao. The Minister launched 68th Vanam-Manam programme at Kammanapalle village in Baireddipalle mandal on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering, Amarnath said that trees play a key role for human existence besides averting the environmental imbalance. “It is the responsibility of everyone to protect the forests and plant saplings. Funds would never be the barrier for improving the forest cover,” he added.

He gave a call to students to make it a habit to plant saplings in their schools and houses. Tree plantations should take briskly in all the villages. “Instructions were given to Anganwadi helpers and workers to plant saplings in the premise of schools,” he said. The Minister further said that the officials of the Forest department should come forward to create awareness about the concept of Vanam-Manam programme.

He asked the local bodies to shoulder the responsibility of protecting the saplings and trees. District Collector PS Pradyumna said that they have fix the target of planting 46 lakh saplings before the end of the November. He instructed the officials of the Social Forestry to conduct awareness camps on protection of forests.

He made a fervent appeal to the public to dial 1,100 for curbing corruption. Later, the Minister participated in another programme at Belapalli in the same mandal. He distributed monthly assets to the selected beneficiaries of various schemes.
MLC G Srinivasulu, Joint Collector 2 Chandramouli, DRDA PD Ravi Prakash Reddy, DWMA PD Kurmanath, DFO Chakrapani, DEO Samuel and other officials were present.

Call to improve green cover

Kadapa: Marketing Minister C Adinarayana Reddy sought the support of people for making the success of Vanam-Manamprogramme. He participated in Vanam-Manamprogramme at Yogi Vemana University (YVU) here on Saturday and planted saplings in the varsity purposes.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the state government is distributing 5 saplings to every house and paying Rs 300 for their maintenance. He lamented that trees are disappearing very fast for various reasons.He recalled that if people spent more time under the shadow of trees then they would not suffer with eye problems during the old age.

He urged every student studying in the YVU to plant at least 10 saplings and hand over them to junior student while leaving the university. While expressing deep concern over peoplenot coming forward to construct individual latrines, the Minister said that attending nature’s call in open places lead to several social and health problems to the people.

On the occasion, the Minister welcomed the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) by the BJP-led NDA government on Saturday. District Collector T Baburao Naidu said that the district administration has set a target of planting 50 lakh saplings in the next 5 months across the district. YVU board member VGovardhan Reddy, Joint Collector Shwetha Teotia and other officials were present.

Vanam-Manam held at SPMVV

Tirupati: Sri Padmavathi MahilaVisvavidyalayam (SPMVV) organised Vanam-Manam programme in its varsity premises here on Saturday. In-charge V-C Prof V Uma inaugurated the programme by planting saplings in front of the administrative building and appreciated the programme undertaken by the Chief Minister.

She said the move will give the greenery and oxygen for the younger generation for their healthy life. Registrar Prof DM Mamatha planted saplings and said that plants absorb all the pollutants present in the environment by giving the oxygen for the welfare of mankind.

Deans Prof DB Krishna Kumari and Prof K Sandhya Rani also planted the plants in front of Humanities Block, New Science Block and Pharmacy department. They have motivated the students to involve in the programme. NSS Coordinator Prof P Suvarnalatha Devi, NSS POs, International Relations dean Prof Sarada, teaching and non-teaching staff and students have planted 300 saplings in the campus.
