Municipal Commissioner had failed to distribute pensions to eligible persons in all wards for the past four months properly. About Rs 3 lakh funds have allegedly been misappropriated by the municipal officials.

The issue came to light with the complaints of beneficiaries to ward councillors and municipal chairperson. In this back drop, they conducted municipal body meeting to discuss the pensions’ issue on Friday while the meeting was going on Municipal Commissioner Pilla Jaganmohan Rao left in a huff.

Municipal Chairman Kotha Purnachandra Rao complained to District Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy over the issue along with councillors.

On the other hand on Saturday, 24th ward councillor Pathala Mukunda Rao lodged a complaint with police over misappropriation of pension funds against Municipal Commissioner. “We received the complaint and registered the case and will probe into it basing on orders of higher officials of the departments concerned,”’ Palasa circle inspector K Ashok Kumar said.

“We received many complaints from 25th ward pensioners,” said ward councilor Badagala Sujatha. “All the allegations against me are politically motivated we are paying pensions to all eligible every month,” said Municipal Commissioner Pilla Jaganmohan Rao.
