Crime rate among various sectors has come down during the past one year. The officials of the police department have taken several measures to create awareness among the public and have been conducting meetings and seminars to minimise the crime and criminal tendency in the public. In the same way ‘Vruddha Mitra’, ‘Vanam-Manam’, ‘Police Mitra’, ‘Police Sevadal’ and some more programmes are being introduced by the District Superintendent of Police L K V Ranga Rao. He encouraged the police to mingle with the public. Police planted around 30,000 saplings in various police stations on its premises and local police took measures to safeguard them.
The grievance redressal camps organised by the Superintendent of Police also became popular and the victims approached the Superintendent of Police to narrate their problems. The police installed sign boards at various busy junctions and minimised the accidents.
Now, the police records indicate that the overall crime rate has come down to a considerable extent. According to records, around 19 murders were recorded in the district between January 1 and June 30, , 2016 and during the next six months, the murders have come down to 12 and the total number of accidents came to 499 from the earlier 717.
Robberies, thefts, door breaking incidents, dowry murders, dowry harassment also came down by 30 per cent when compared to previous year. Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Superintendent of Police Ranga Rao said that the police should maintain friendly ties with them. He said that people should not fear to approach police stations to lodge complaints.
