Visakhapatnam: Taking stock of health conditions in the agency area, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao directed the staff of all departments to prepare an action plan to tackle dengue, malaria, chikungunya and diarrhoea in the monsoon.

In a review meeting with Collector Pravin Kumar, KGH medical officers at the government's guest here on Sunday, the Minister stated to improve the health condition of people in the agency, the government is willing to give any kind of support. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will hold a review meeting in this regard on Monday, he said.

“Doctors and para medical posts, which are lying vacant, should be filled before July 15, if the government accepts the proposal. In the same way, the vacancies such as 25 ANMs and 117 Anganwadi workers should also be filled,” Srinivasa Rao told the Collector.

He instructed the health officials to conduct the second phase of anti-larval operations as per schedule.The Collector explained that the measures were being taken to control seasonal diseases in the agency region. “When compared to last year, there is 14.4 per cent decrease in malaria cases registered this year in the Vizag agency,” he said.

The measures have taken up to upgrade Paderu Area Hospital as a district-level facility, so that the patients need not travel all the way to KGH in the city, he informed the Minister.

District medical and health officer Dr Uma Sundari, Paderu additional district and medical officer Gurunatha Rao, zonal malaria officer Kumar, KGH superintendent A Arjun and other officers attended the meeting.
