KVLIS a boon to farmers: Irrigation expert
Irrigation department Apex Committee member Alla Gopalakrishna Murthy said that Kondaveeti Vaagu Lift Irrigation Scheme (KVLIS) would be a boon to the farmers of Krishna delta and Amaravati capital. Speaking to media persons here on Monday, he said that some leaders were resorting to false campaign against the scheme.
Vijayawada: Irrigation department Apex Committee member Alla Gopalakrishna Murthy said that Kondaveeti Vaagu Lift Irrigation Scheme (KVLIS) would be a boon to the farmers of Krishna delta and Amaravati capital. Speaking to media persons here on Monday, he said that some leaders were resorting to false campaign against the scheme.
He said the project could provide drinking water to Amaravati, besides protecting Amaravati from floods. The government completed tender process in a transparent.
He accused Opposition leaders and civil society members of making comments with vested interests. “As much as 2 tmcft of water could be shifted from Kondaveeti Vaagu to Krishna River,” he said and added that the water could be utilised for the needs of Krishna delta. Krishna Delta Project Committee chairman Gutta Sivaramakrishna, Gutta Bujanga Rayulu and Y Pullaiah Chowadary were also present.
