41 high schools to have playgrounds
The district educational office will develop playgrounds in the school and in the first phase 41 high schools have been identified. This is part of the state government to provide playgrounds in all the schools to encourage sports among the students.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, district sports officer J Gallyot Rodrigues, and district educational officer G Nagamani said 123 high schools have been identified of the total 164 high schools for developing the playgrounds. In the first phase, 41 schools have been identified and an amount of Rs 5 lakh would be spent for each school.
Rodrigues said the playgrounds will be developed in the high schools which have a minimum of two acres of land. The ground will have volleyball, kho-kho, kabaddi, basketball and a running track.
