Ninety-five per cent of the much awaited Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project works were completed in the district while Rs 2,000 crore had been spent so far for the irrigation cum drinking water project, according to District Collector PS Pradyumna.

Chittoor: Ninety-five per cent of the much awaited Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project works were completed in the district while Rs 2,000 crore had been spent so far for the irrigation cum drinking water project, according to District Collector PS Pradyumna.

The Collector held a meeting with HNSS engineers and contractor here on Wednesday to review the progress of the project works directed the officials to accelerate the works so as complete the Punganur branch canal works by August 15 and Kuppam branch canal by September 20.

Pradyumna made a detail review package wise and critical works progress, inter-departmental issues, land acquisition and sought the engineers to draw a weekly target and achieve it without compromising on the quality. He warned of severe action on the contractor, who failed to ensure quality in works.

Chief Minister is keen on completing the project as early as possible to make the district drought free, he said and added that it is his special interest that saw Rs 2,000 crore was spent on the project for its completion.
