State CPI secretary Ramakrishna demanded the removal of HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao from the State Cabinet to ensure a free and honest Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged land scams in Visakhapatnam.

How can the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu allow the HRD Minister, who was facing severe allegations in the land scams to continue in his Cabinet, he wondered. Unless Ganta Srinivasa Rao was dismissed from the Cabinet, there cannot be a free and fair SIT probe in the land scams, Ramakrishna pointed out.
The CPI organised a massive padayatra to campaign against the land scam in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. While flagging off the padayatra in Pothinamallayyapalem, Ramakrishna alleged that Minister Ganta was influencing the SIT members and other officials to give him a clean chit from the land scams.
As the ministers and MLAs were pressurising the SIT officials, how is it possible to hold a clean and transparency probe, Ramakrishna wondered . In the name of SIT, the State government was trying protect the accused in the land scams. If the government was sincere in sending the culprits behind the bars, it should order a probe under a Sitting Judge, Ramakrishna demanded.
