Vijayawada: The employees of Andhra Pradesh Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) Contract and Outsourcing, Part-time Employees Federation on Friday organised a rally from Vijayawada Railway Station to Alankar Centre followed by a protest at the Dharna Chowk. MLCs and leaders of various political parties participated in the protest and extended their support to the employees demanding the government to settle the pay hike, job security and other demands.
Addressing the protesters, PDF MLC B Nageswara Rao said that there were about 25,000 employees working in various categories and demanded the government to immediately settle the SSA employees demands who were suffering with meagre pay.
Rao said the governme.nt had responded positively and HRD minister Ganta Srinivas Rao promised to increase salary for the SSA employees along with 180 days paid maternity leave over telephone. He further said that proceedings would be issued on July 8.
