The party leadership has decided to organise the plenary opposite Nagarjuna University in Guntur district which is near to capital location for two days from July 8. The 12-acre site has been selected for the meeting to which about 3,000 people are expected to attend.

This is the first time the main opposition party is holding its meeting at new capital Amaravati with pomp. Party sources said leadership wants to surprise the people with some important announcements. Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy discussed the issues to be on the agenda with senior leaders and newly-appointed party strategist Prashant Kishore.

Besides, the party leadership finalised 18 resolutions to be passed by the two-day meet. The main resolutions deal with issues like Special Category Status, railway zone, agriculture loan waiver, irrigation projects, Amaravati capital. Apart from this, Jaganmohan Reddy will be re-elected formally as party president.

Sources said the party plenary will focus on farmers’ issues and challenges faced by agriculture sector. Besides highlighting the alleged failures of the government in the sector, the party is planning to make some promises to be implemented if it comes to power. Party leaders are said to be discussing the contours of the party manifest for 2019 elections with Prashanth Kishore.

MP and senior YSRC leader V Vijay Sai Reddy told The Hans India that the plenary would expose the failure of TDP and instil confidence a mong people. He confirmed that the party would make some surprise announcement during the plenary.
YSRC programme coordinator Talasila Raghuram said arrangements were being made to make the two-day plenary in big success.

“People from all over the state will attend the meeting in large-scale. All the rank and file of the party will be provided all the facilities during the meeting,” he added.
