Tirupati: Former MP Chinta Mohan on Friday criticised the state government for not showing concern to allot 100 acres of land at Kobaka in Yerpedu mandal to construct 7,008 double bedroom houses.

Staging a protest in front of the office of the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati here on Friday, he said that the UPA government had sanctioned these houses for the families living in 41 slums in Tirupati and released Rs 292 crore. He also slammed the state government for not completing the BHEL factory at Mannavaram launched during the UPA regime.

Though the first phase completed and production was started during the UPA rule, the subsequent BJP and TDP governments have kept the works in cold storage, he criticised. The government also failed to allocate 2,000 acres of land to Dugarajapatnam port, which is expected to provide jobs for one lakh unemployed youth.

He said that he has also filed a PIL in the Supreme Court on this which has directed the central government to start the port works. He even criticised the attitude of the government towards the Scavenger’s Colony in Tirupati. Prabhakar, Santhi Yadav and Tejovathi took part in the protest.
