MLC Surya Rao takes charge as Red Cross chairman
Ramu Surya Rao, MLC and chairman of government headquarters hospital development committee took over an additional charge as chairman of Indian Red Cross, West Godavari unit on Friday.

As the present chairman Dr. Pratap left for America, collector K Bhaskar asked the MLC to take over the additional charge.
Speaking on the occasion, Surya Rao said that they have decided to collect 10,000 units of blood every year in the district to use in emergency cases.
He said that an awareness campaign would also be taken up among youth on blood donation. He said that a separate building for special blood bank at a cost of Rs 40 lakhs is under construction.
He added that the district collector had decided to provide the blood free of cost to the Thalassemia patients. Red cross coordinator K Chittibabu and others participated in the programme.
