Srikakulam: The state government is planning to improve tourist spots in rural areas under the rural tourism development activity through its AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC). As part of it, the APTDC gave its nod for four agencies, Culture Aangan and Gross Routes, both Mumbai-based, Bengaluru-based Wander Trials and Hyderabad-based Access Livelihoods Consulting India Ltd, to inspect all the 14 identified tourist spots from June 22 to 30 across the state.

The agency members started at Lepakshi in Anantapur district and ended at Bobbili in Vizianagaram district. The government appointed the agencies to study tourist spots and submit a report on developmental activities which are required for improvement of tourist spots.

The members visited Lepakshi, Nimmalakunta, Dharmavaram, Madhavamala, Venkatagiri, Kondapalli, Kuchipudi, Pedana, Narsapur, Pasarlapudi, Uppada, Etikoppaka, Ponduru and Bobbili with the assistance of concerned district tourism promotion officials (DTPOs).

In Ponduru, the team inspected Khadi cloth making units at Andhra Fine Khadi Karmikabivruddi Sangham (AFKKS) and recorded entire process of making cloth, from production of yarn to cloth, on video. At all tourist spots, the team members noted existing facilities, history of the spot and requirements for improving the spots.

The members will submit a report to the government through APTDC by suggesting required steps at the identified spots. Srikakulam District Tourism Promotion Officer Nadiminti Narayana Rao told The Hans India.

“We have prepared a report detailing steps to be taken at tourist places to attract more tourists.” Ms Rashmi Sawant of Culture Aangan and Ms Mugdha Yelkar of Gross Routes agencies also explained steps to this newspaper.
