Addressing a meeting organised by the Bharathi Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) to felicitate him for the ministry’s decision to extend social security schemes PF and ESI to all Anganwadi workers, ASHA and Mid-day meal workers here on Sunday, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya however made it clear that it was up to the State government to ensure the success of the scheme for the benefit of the poor unorganised sector employees.

The State government should take interest and provide the required land for taking up the construction of houses under the scheme for unorganised sector employees.

The ministry on its part will provide Rs 1.5 lakh as subsidy and remaining cost of the house has to be met by the beneficiary either through his PF amount or bank loan, the Minister explained. For Andhra Pradesh, 10,000 houses were sanctioned under the scheme he said adding that the Centre proposed to construct as many as 15 lakh houses countrywide by 2019.

The Minister claimed that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who enhanced the minimum wages to Rs 18,000 per month and also extended PF and ESI facilities to more and more employees of unorganised sector.This was the reason for the workers and employees to join BMS strengthening it nationwide.

EPFO Central Board Member and BMS national secretary M Jagadiswar Rao said in Andhra Pradesh alone about two lakh Anganwadi workers will be benefitted with the ministry extending social security scheme including PF and ESI.

On the occasion, a group of INTUC leaders including district president L Ratnakumar, TTD employees’ leader M Mohan Reddy and their followers joined in BMS in the presence of Dattatreya. Earlier, a rally was taken out from NTR circle to the venue at Tuda office in the city. BMS state secretary Ramanaiah and others were present.
