Kakinada: The rail line connectivity works from Kotipalli to Amalapuram expedited in the last few months with the clearance of tender process for the 3.50 kilometres rail bridge works on river Godavari was awarded to Gammon India Constructions. The construction activities are expected to start from August this year and likely to complete by last quarter of 2018.

In this connection, P Ravindra Babu, Amalapuram Lok Sabha member assured local public to use his good offices to minimise losses to public property as far as the land required for the rail project in Amalapuram town limits.

The MP said that he wanted Amalapuram as terminating station for train services till the extension up to Narsapuram is completed. He also said that the railway authorities concerned agreed for it. The completion of rail link between Kotipalli–Amalapuram will provide rail link between Kakinada–Amalapuram for 60 kilometers.

The MP also said that he had pressed upon the authorities of Gammon India to take up construction of rail bridge from both sides towards Amalapuram and Kotipalli and from the middle of 3. 50 kilometer stretch for speedy execution.

Ravindra Babu also said that he held talks with the railway authorities over the need to develop the existing Sarpavaram railway station in Kakinada suburbs as full-fledged junction to handle the traffic bound to Amalapuram and vice-versa from Samalkot and Pithapuram once the Kotipalli-Amalapuram rail line comes into existence.
