Kakinada: Submission of resignation by Namana Rambabu as East Godavari ZP Chief and Pendyala Nalinikanth as vice-chairman on Sunday paved the way for Jaggampeta ZPTC member Jyothula Naveen to take the reins of East Godavari.

As announced earlier, both Namana and Pendyala submitted their resignations to the district collector Kartikeya Mishra on Sunday.According to sources, the collector called for election of new leader with due information to state election authorities and a minimum of three days’ timewill be taken for this procedure.

Under this backdrop, the general body of East Godavari ZP is expected to meet on July 13 to elect the new leader. Meanwhile hectic activity has begun in Jyothula’s camp at Irripaka, the native village of Jyothula Naveen and his father Jyothula Nehru.

Several party leaders and followers of JyothulaNehru have been visiting the village and expressing their solidarity for Naveen to become the chairman.

According to sources in Jyothula’s camp, the swearing-in programme is expected to take place on July15 and the auspicious time on the day will be confirmed soon after the return of Jaggampeta MLA and father of Naveen, Jyothula Nehru late on Sunday night from Vijayawada.
