Teams from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Goa and Puducherry will participate in the tournament.,
Vijayawada: Krishna District Sepaktakraw Association (KDSTA) executive committee meeting on Sunday decided to conduct South Zone Sepaktakraw Senior Nationals for Men and Women from August 28 to 30 in the city. Teams from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Goa and Puducherry will participate in the tournament.
In this connection, KDSTA executive committee meeting was held at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in the city on Sunday and members discussed about conducting the South Zone Senior Nationals and arrangements to be made.
Earlier, association chairman Bonda Srinivasa Rao introduced Sepaktakraw players and asked about their results and playing facilities.
Later, association chairman Bonda Srinivasa Rao spoke to reporters and said that for the first time Krishna district association will be hosting the South Zone Championship.
Tournament Organising Committee has been appointed by the executive committee, he said. KDSTA secretary Simhadri Ramesh will be the tournament organising secretary and he would look after tournament arrangements, he added.
He further stated that both the men and women matches will be held at the IGMC Stadium and accommodation will be provided to players and officials. About 1,000 players and officials will attend the tournament, he added.
Tournament Organising secretary Simhadri Ramesh said that Krishna District Association has taken this tournament as prestigious and arrangements are going on.
KDSTA president P Balamurali Krishna, orgaising secretary M Pavan Kumar, treasurer B Brahmeswara Rao, vice-presidents Kareem Basha, P Bala Sundara Rao, joint secretaries K Suresh, Shaik Usman, M Sai, P Joji Babu and others participated.
