Two boys meet watery grave
In a tragic incident, two children drown,Yeluru Canal near Naidupalem of Nathavaram mandal in the district on Sunday. The deceased were identified as P Statish (9), Class V student and P Tharun Ramesh (12), Class VII student of private schools and the both are residents of Naidupalem.
Visakhapatnam: In a tragic incident, two children drowned in Yeluru Canal near Naidupalem of Nathavaram mandal in the district on Sunday. The deceased were identified as P Statish (9), Class V student and P Tharun Ramesh (12), Class VII student of private schools and the both are residents of Naidupalem.
The boys were studying in a private school at Atchutapuram in the district and came to home for a holiday. They were to attend a function at Tharun Ramesh's house. The duo had gone to a restaurant for breakfast in the morning. While returning home pedalling a bicycle through a kuccha road along the Yeluru Canal, they slipped into the canal while trying to avoid a muddy water on the road.
According to Inspector of Narsipatnam police station L Revathamma, due to slippery road the boys slipped into the flowing Yeluru Canal and drowned.
Though some locals noticed when the children drowned in the canal, they failed to rescue the boys as it happened very fast. After hours of efforts by the police and locals, the bodies were fished out and handed over to the family members after inquest and post-mortem. Police registered a case and further investigation is on.
