Amaravati: Minister for Finance Yanamala Ramakrishnudu expressed displeasure over officials of SC, ST, BC, Kapu and Brahman corporations for their failure in spending of funds allocated in the budget.

In a meeting of Group of Ministers (GoM) at Secretariat on Monday, Yanamala asked officials to explain as why they did not utilise funds as per target. He suggested officials to take any issue to government’s notice regarding welfare schemes.
He said the government allocated Rs 26,000 crore for welfare schemes for the benefit of poor.

“We announce welfare schemes and allot funds. But implementation of the schemes without giving place to corruption at any level is your responsibility,” Yanamala asserted.

The minister said officials should take steps to issue scholarships to students every month same as pensions to various sections of people. “Officials should take care of clearing applications of students for scholarships up to date,” he added.

Stating that it would take some time to clear around 16 lakh applications for scholarships, Yanamala said that applications would be cleared at college level by linking them to Aadhaar number. “It will be useful for early release of scholarships to students” he said.
