​Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to take up infrastructure developmental works in villages at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore. He held a teleconference on Neeru-Pragathi programme from his Undavalli residence on Monday and said that the Union government would release Rs 1,365 crore soon for the works taken up under NREGS.

Stating that the government must utilise Rs 800 crore worth material component during the year, he informed that Rs 800 from 14th Finance Commission would be released this month. Maintaining that the state is in first position in NREGS mandays, Naidu said Rajasthan stood second position. He asked the officials to continue this spirit of work in the coming two years too to provide basic amenities in villages by utilising the NREGS in a big way.

Referring to the ground water levels which have decreased to 6 feet compared to last year Chief Minister directed the officials to initiate measures to conserve rain water by expediting the construction works of farm ponds and check dams. Regarding to housing projects, Naidu has asked to perform foundation laying ceremonies across the state during auspicious Sravana (commences from July 3rd week) month.

Expressing satisfaction over the increase in construction activities compared to previous year, he directed the housing officials to complete the selecting the beneficiaries for NTR Housing Scheme by July 30.

Warning that he would not tolerate the delay in sanction of funds for the housing activities, he asked rural, urban development and finance departments to work in coordination with housing corporation for efficient expedition of works.

Hailing the houses constructed in Raptadu constituency under the supervision of minister Paritala Sunitha, Chief Minister suggested the housing officials to take these houses as model and construct housing colonies in all the constituencies.

He also directed the officials to complete 5,000 km CC roads in rural areas in the coming eight months. Envisaging that every anganwadi Centre should have its own building, he asked for construction of 1400 anganwadi buildings immediate.

Housing minister Kaluva Srinivasulu, housing, urban development, rural development, fibre grid officials and district collectors have participated.
