Rajamahendravaram: Former MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar has accepted challenge of Rajamahendravaram Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Choudary to share open dais to discuss Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS) on July 18.

Addressing a media conference at Anam Rotary hall here on Monday, Arun Kumar said that Gorantla should decide the venue; Prakasam Barrage or in presence of farmers of Krishna delta. “I will tender apology if my allegations are proved wrong,” he stated.

“There is no response from state government, though I wrote many letters about PLIS letters sent many a time about PLIS. MLA Gorantla cannot dare to throw a challenge, about PLIS, without the knowledge of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

It is the duty of the MLA to bring necessary permissions from the government in this regard,” he noted. Recalling CAG’s comments on the project Vundavalli said, “It is not good on the part of state government, if it under estimates CAG reports. Rajiv Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh governments collapsed because of CAG reports,” he averred.

The former MP questioned as why government prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for PLIS for 20 years, if PLIS was a temporary arrangement. He alleged that state government sent wrong report to Centre saying only 4.02 tmc ft of water lifted to PLIS last year.
