She said that water is being supplied to 1,187 habitations in the district by incurring huge expenditure. Explaining measures being taken to mitigate water woes of people, the ZP chief stated a report has been submitted to the state government seeking release of Rs 54.5 crore as an immediate assistance.

Instructions were given to Rural Water Supply Superintending Engineer to initiate measures for transporting drinking water to the water-starved villages, she added. She further said that the ZP had allocated Rs 54 crore from its own funds for transportation of water to the villages in the last one year.

She said that she has been closely monitoring the transportation of water through GPS system and alerting the concerned officials when required. She urged the ZPTCs and MPTCs to take initiative for digging soak pits, water harvest structures and farm ponds in a big way as part of the Panta Sanjeevani scheme.

Several ZPTC members have levelled allegations against the Agriculture department for not remitting the outstanding input subsidy to the farmers. Palasamudram ZPTC expressed anger over district officials for skipping Mandal Praja Parishad (MPP) general body meetings.

The ZP chief issued standing instructions for all the departmental heads to attend the MPP meetings. She said that ZP meeting would be held on Wednesday in which Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy would take part as chief guest.

ZP Chief Executive Officer Ravi Kumar Naidu said that instructions were given to all the Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) to prepare an action plan for the ensuing years to meet the expenditure for various schemes particularly for the transportation of drinking water.

He stated that District Collector P S Pradyumna has been monitoring the progress of monthly assets distribution in which MPDOs should fix their targets. ZP Superintendent Prabhakara Reddy, RWS SE Venu, R&B SE Ranganatham and others were present.
