The Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank (APGB) received ‘Best Performance Award’ in the state of Andhra Pradesh for empowerment of women by providing financial assistance through 530 branches under Self Help Group (SHG) mode, here on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank (APGB) received ‘Best Performance Award’ in the state of Andhra Pradesh for empowerment of women by providing financial assistance through 530 branches under Self Help Group (SHG) mode, here on Wednesday.

The Bank has extended financial assistance of Rs 2,232.67 crore to 94,156 SHGs through 530 branches in five districts. It may be recalled that empowerment of women through SHG mode by linking them through banking system was introduced in AP in the year 1992 and now 25 years has been completed by 2017.

The award was presented through former NABARD chairman Kotaiah and former RBI Governor Duvuri Subba Rao in the presence of VVV Satyanarayana, NABARD GGM at a meeting organised in Hyderabad on the occasion of NABARD's 36th Formation Day and silver jubilee year of bank
linkage for SHGs.
