Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Model School (APMS) teachers demanded the state government to release their pending salaries and merge all the teachers into state government and release salaries through 010 account.

In this regard about 200 teachers from 163 schools from all over the state took part in the protest at Dharna Chowk on Thursday. About 25 teachers were on indefinite hunger strike.

APMS Joint Action Committee president P Mohan Reddy demanded the merger of all the 2100 teachers working at 163 APMS who were recruited on regular recruitment basis into the government.

He said that salaries were due from May and salaries for the months February, March and April were given in the month of May. The government had not released the salaries to 2100 teachers working under APMS from May.
