  • Says TDP govt took steps to ensure 24-hour power supply even to remote villages

Addressing a huge gathering after laying foundation stones for different schemes and taking part in inaugural functions in Kamalapuram constituency on Wednesday, he said several multinational companies are coming forward to establish their units in the State. He pointed out that the State government has already entered into MoUs with different IT companies.

He said that despite the State facing a budget deficit of Rs 16,000 crore, the TDP government implemented a crop loan waiver to the tune of Rs 25,000 crore for the benefit of farmers.

Lokesh pointed out that prior to 2014, there was no proper electrification for several villages, but now the scenario has changed significantly and people living even in remote villages were enjoying 24 hours power supply.

To speed up development of villages, the government was allotting 90 per cent funds to help panchayats take up construction of CC roads.

Lokesh cautioned people not to read newspapers promoting ‘Yellow journalism’ as they only carry misleading reports. He said a vernacular Telugu daily was trying to divert the attention of people by publishing false news reports. “The newspaper is hiding facts on developmental activities taken up by the State government,” he said.

The Minister stated that the government welcomes constructive criticism but not reports which are far away from facts. He flayed Opposition leader Y S Jagan for trying to create rift among people representing different castes and regions. Such steps would only lead to stalling progress of the State, he observed.

He said if the Opposition party is really interested in the development of the State, it should raise issues with documentary evidence.

Earlier, Lokesh participated in several developmental activities like inauguration of drinking water scheme in Alankhanipalle in Kadapa city, Neeru-Chettu programme at Goturu village, inspection of tank at Obulayapalle, inspection of tank development work at Tapetla village, and inspection of water pits and check-dam at Jangampalle and inauguration of check-dam at Apparaopalle in Kamalapuram constituency.

Agriculture Minister S Chandramohan Reddy, Civil Supplies Chairman Linga Reddy, Kamalapuram TDP in-charge P Narasimha Reddy and others accompanied Lokesh.
