Srikakulam: Nephrology and neuropathic units would be granted for government RIMS hospital in Srikakulam, assured Minister for Health, Kamineni Srinivas. He inspected RIMS on Wednesday and assured to start both units to serve kidney and paralysis patients as well. He inaugurated Maternity and Child Health Centre at RIMS, along with Minister for BC Welfare K Atchannaidu, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 11 crore.

With the MCHC, 100 beds would be sanctioned additionally to RIMS, Ministers explained. On the occasion, they assured that facilities would be provided in orthopedic, gynecology, neurology, pediatric and other wings soon to serve the poor patients better.

Nursing college buildings would be completed by December and classes would be started regularly later. The government is planning to start PG courses at RIMS after getting approvals from the Central government.

District Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy stressed the need of super specialty wings at RIMS to serve the people better. Srikakulam MLA G Lakshmidevi, joint collector KVN Chakradhara Babu, DMHO Dr Sanapala Tirupathi Rao, RIMS director Dr S Krishnaveni accompanied the Minister.
