  • Several companies will be setting up units in Kurnool district soon, say District Industries General Manager Somasekhar Reddy

Nageshwar Reddy criticised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Nadu for not fulfilling the promises despite his three-year rule. He said Chandrababu promised that he would give a job to every household and unemployment arrears to the educated but not a single promise has been materialised so far.

As many as 2 lakh students are facing hardships to earn a daily living, he pointed out. For not having industries in Rayalaseema, students after completion of their education must migrate to neighbouring states in search of employment with a meagre salary, he wooed.

Nageshwar Reddy said that the Chief Minister had assured that industrial corridor would be set up at Orvakal through which several employment opportunities could be generated to the graduates.

This announcement was made by the Chief Minister during his visit to Kurnool on August 15 last year but till date no industry has been set up, he stated. Thousands of acres were acquired for solar park and till date the land displaced are crying for an employment, he lamented.

He said around 2 lakh students from four districts graduated from engineering colleges are ardently waiting for industries to be set up in Rayalaseema. He said around 8,000 posts are lying vacant at Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams and asked the government to fill all those posts immediately.

He demanded the government to immediately set up industries in Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa and Chittoor or else the
agitation will be intensified.

District Industries General Manager Somasekhar Reddy told The Hans India that Jay Raj Ispat, an integrated steel factory, is likely to be set up in a short period. They have been assigned 370 acres of land.

Besides Jay Raj Ispat, Jain Irrigation and MSL Mining at Orvakal, Gold Ore at Thuggali, Sponge Iron at Nandyal and DRDO unit are also likely to be set up here.

Recalling the foundation stone laid for food processing industry at Thangadancha, Somasekhar Reddy said the unit would start production within a year. Even micro small and medium enterprises are also likely to come up at Kurnool. If these industries take a shape then thousands of jobs would be generated, he stated.
