Rajamahendravaram: The Telugu Desam Party high command’s decision to appoint Jyothula Naveen as Zilla Parishad chairman has not gone well with party leaders and cadres.

They said that Namana Rambabu was loyal to the party since its inception and added that the party’s high command has made him a scapegoat in its game of electing ZP chief. They expressed concern over the way the party’s high command behaved with Namana and said that this action was sending wrong signals in the cadre.

Jyothula Nehru shifted his loyalty from YSRCP and joined TDP after getting political assurances from Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu such as minister post to him or ZP chairman post to his son Jyothula Naveen.

However, when a senior minister of the district opposed the joining of Nehru into TDP and later to his minister post, he demanded that at least his son Jyothula Naveen should be made ZP chairman.

Meanwhile, IT Minister Nara Lokesh had given consent to the proposal and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu also agreed paving the way for Naveen.

For technical reasons, vice-chairman Nalinikanth also resigned and was given the post again to him. Jyothula Naveen will assume charge as zilla parishad chairman on July 15. TDP is having 46 ZPTC members out of 60 ZPTC members.
