Unable to deal with sexual harassment, Class IX student commits suicide

A Class IX student committed suicide by hanging herself to a ceiling fan in Krishna district. Identified as Sowmya, was studying in a high school at Padamata.

The reason behind the suicide is suggested as sexual harassment and her parents were shocked to know that Sowmya was being harassed on a daily basis.

Few eve-teasers, among which one is identified as Nani had been teasing and harassing Sowmya with her other friends while they were going to school. However, Sowmya never revealed the happenings to her parents fearing they might stop her from attending school altogether.

But as the harassments increased in the past few days, Sowmya committed suicide. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
