Chittoor: As predicted, the YSRCP has made a blistering attack on the TDP for its failure in protecting the interest of the farmers while the ruling TDP has given a befitting reply for the opposition party allegations in the Zilla Parishad (ZP) general body meeting held at ZP meeting hall here on Wednesday.
Highlights:
- Minister Amaranatha Reddy condemns allegations of opposition party
- TDP and YSRCP members exchange heated arguments over irregularities in input subsidy amount distribution
Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy brought the situation under control by saying that the state government is committed for the welfare of the farming community. ZP Chairperson Girvani Chandra Prakash has presided over the meeting. District Collector P S Pradyumna was successful in pacifying the members. ZP Chief Executive Officer Ravi Kumar Naidu has explained the agenda details of the ZP meeting.
YSRCP district convener and GD Nellore MLA K Narayanaswamy has alleged that irregularities have taken place in distribution of input subsidy amount to the farmers in certain mandals. He further said that certain ineligible farmers belonging to TDP had received input subsidy. He also recalled that Amaranatha Reddy, who was in YSRCP as Palamaner MLA for three years, knew it very well over the misuse of input subsidy in the district.
Reacting to the comments of Narayanaswamy, the Minister made it clear that input subsidy was remitted to the eligible farmers irrespective of political affiliations. “We will not entertain recommendations of any political party in the distribution of the input subsidy. The government decided to introduce e-booking system so that crop loss would be ascertained in a foolproof manner,” he stated.
At this juncture, Palasamudram TDP ZPTC Chittibabu and Narayanaswamy abused each other amidst protests. Pandemonium prevailed as members of YSRCP and TDP have exchanged heated arguments. Piler MLA C Ramachandra Reddy alleged that farmers were being supplied inferior groundnut seeds resulting poor germination.
Madanapalle MLA Desai Thippa Reddy advised Minister to supply seeds on 50 per cent subsidy. TDP MLC B Rajasimhulu said that it was not advisable to invite applications through online for sanctioning of the subsided tractors. The Collector informed members that officials are taking measures to develop 1,200 check dams in the district which were identified through satellite images.
The YSRCP ZPTCs alleged the funds meant for the welfare of SC, ST, BC, Minority and Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation were improperly used and unspent funds were surrendered to the government without bringing to the notice of the higher officials.
Speaking to the media after completion of the general body meeting, Amaranatha Reddy defended the stand of the government in the distribution of input subsidy. He made it clear that no government school in the district will be closed on the pretext of rationalisation.
