Tirumala: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which cancelled `Divya Darshan’ tokens on week-ends from July this year, has now decided to limit the issuance of tokens during the week days to 20,000.

The TTD will issue 20,000 tokens per day from July 17 onwards with time slots. The management is contemplating to provide assured darshan to these 20,000 Divya Darshan pilgrims in two and a half hours from the reporting time mentioned in the token.

Owing to heavy pilgrim rush which has been continuing even after completion of summer holidays in Tirumala, it seems the TTD has no option but to continue to dispense with Divya Darshan tokens during weekends to cope with the rush.
Accordingly, this week also there will be no issuing of tokens from July 14 to 16.

The pilgrims trekking footpath routes have touched 50,000 on peak days like major religious events in Tirumala temple and around 40,000 on many weekends. Even during normal days, the figure is touching 30,000 which ultimately forced the TTD to revamp the Divya Darshan token system for the footpath pilgrims.
