The minister’s submission assumes importance as he has been blaming his ruling party leaders for the land scam, which rocked the entire state. It should be recalled that the minister at a public meeting announced that a public inquiry would be held in the presence of revenue minister KE Krishna Murthy.

Sensing wider dimension of the inquiry that could slur the image of the party, the Chief Minister immediately announced formation of Special Investigation Team.

The Minister, however, expressing confidence in the SIT, submitted some documents related to tampering of lands.
“I suspect that over 1,700 acres, including private and government lands are under encroachment in the city and surroundings. Some fraudsters even availed crores of rupees as loan from banks mortgaging these lands,” Ayyannapatrudu said, talking to the reporters after meeting the SIT members.

He said that SIT has got some leads in the scams and it would submit a comprehensive report on the persons, who tampered land records and who benefited from the scam. Giving clean chit to the integrity of the SIT, the minister said,Head of the SIT, Vineet Brijlal is an honest and efficient officer as I knew him, when he had worked as ASP (Narsipatnam) and he will list out all the culprits who are involved in the scam.”

Ayyanna said he had submitted key evidence to SIT on how some people have claimed ownership of the government lands to the extent of 270 acres and got compensation (Rs 12 lakh per acre) for AP Med Tech Zone, which is coming up at Pedagantyada area in the city.

“I will meet the SIT officials again on July 19to submit some more documents on the lands scams,” he informed.
Coming down heavily on Opposition leader and YSRC chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy, for terming the SIT as snake without fangs, the minister recalled that Jagan called CBI as Congress Bureau of Investigation, when CBI started investigation into his illegal assets and now he wanted to CBI inquiry in the lands scams.
