Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu launched high speed Wi-Fi facility at Vizianagaram railway station through remote video link from Rail Bhavan in New Delhi on Thursday. Union Minister for Civil Aviation P Ashok Gajapati Raju was also present during the launch.

While Minister for Mines and Geology RVSK Ranga Rao, Collector Vivek Yadav and others participated in the programme in Vizianagaram. This launch marks another step forward by Indian railways in its mission to achieve ‘Digital Rail – Digital India’. Designed to offer passengers the best internet experience, Wi-Fi facility will be available to any user.

Under Digital India initiative, railways, as committed, provided high speed Wi-Fi at 127 busiest railway stations in 2016. RailTel, the public sector unit of the railways, in collaboration with Google is providing free Wi-Fi service at railway stations.

Speaking on the occasion, Sujay Krishna said that WifFi facility at Vizianagaram railway station was provided with the initiative of Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju. Zilla Parishad Chairperson Dr S Swathi Rani, MLA B Chiranjeevulu, divisional railway manager Mukul Saran Mathur and others participated in the programme.
